Stockton Clark
Senior Associate

Stocky Clark brings to The Rensselaerville Institute years of in-depth experience as a senior executive in local and state governments and CEO of regional, national and international non-profits. 

Most recently, as CEO of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, Stocky lead implementation of the vision of founder, Paul Newman, to scale up to a global network of medical camps and programs for children with serious illnesses and life-threatening conditions.  Results include:

      • Doubled the number of camps from 5-11 in 5 years.
      • Developed Foundation to raise $57 million endowment for new camp development and
        member camp sustainability.
      • Created and launched a branding and public awareness campaign, named by American
        Brands Council as America’s Best Brand, 2007.
      • Developed and implemented system of standards to ensure highest level of Program and
        Medical quality globally.
      • Developed leadership and management training to teach Best Practices.
      • Expanded services to include hospital outreach programs.

Stocky previously was Acting President, CFO and COO of Outward Bound USA where he began the consolidation of the traditional wilderness education schools and the launch of the innovative public school reform program, Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound.

Stocky has over 15 years of senior management experience in the Public Sector as Assistant Commissioner of NY State Division of Housing and Community Renewal and Director of Program Initiatives for the NYS Office for the Aging.  In addition, as Director of Residential Services for Catholic Charities, he developed a continuum of group homes and specialized foster homes under contracts with Social Services, Youth, Mental Health and Mental Retardation.  As Executive Director of a regional psychiatric center for children in upstate New York, Stocky engineered the transition from an inpatient care facility to a continuum of community-based mental health services.

As a private sector entrepreneur, Stocky created Eldercare, a nationwide case management and referral program for the elderly used by many Fortune 50 Corporations. In his spare time, Stocky also owned and operated a retail water sports business and windsurfing school for 10 years.

Stocky is an energetic, enthusiastic, and articulate consultant and presenter. He provides strategic planning, executive coaching, outcome management, investor practices, merger planning, retreat facilitation, non-profit Board and staff leadership training and other management consulting services. TRI clients include, Mass Dept of Health and Human Services, Ohio Dept of Economic Development and Erie County, New York. 

Stocky was given the Governor’s Management Achievement Award by New York State and was named Innovator of the Year by Cornell University.  His educational background includes a Master’s in Public Administration from the Maxwell School and a BA from Hobart College.
