From Funder to Investor Workshop

Concepts and Tools For Maximizing Resultsfrom Grant-making and Contracting

If you think your “core know-how” is giving out or allocating the money, it might be time for a change….that’s what funders do.  Investors have or develop a core expertise around maximizing ROI – return-on-investment – the results that are achieved through their investment.  Powerful investing is learned behavior, and this workshop is designed to help you learn the concepts, tools specific behaviors required to invest for high results.

This workshop will answer these and other questions funders ask on their journey to investor:

      1. Is there a set of regular behaviors for investors –an investor cycle– and are there tools to make it happen?
      2. How can we sort through the various pressures and requirements for outcomes that come to us and find effective ways to define and verify results from our money?
      3. Is there a way to breathe positive energy into an investor framework – or must it ever remain a heavy requirement for those in whom we invest?
      4. How can we shift from a funder focused on compliance to an investor taking an active role in increasing results and human gain?
      5. Just how far can and must we go to tell our providers (contractors, grantees, cooperators) just what we want to buy in our RFP’s?

Investor’s Outcome Outline…..RFP Development……Due Diligence Selection Process…..Investment Management….Lessons Learned…..Rolling Up Results…. -  All are topics of this session.

Here’s what one of our clients had to say after changing her focus from a Funder to an Investor and implementing an Investor framework in her organization…

“The result focus is powerful.  We now use targets not just for grantmaking but for all foundation staff. The shift from activities to results is amazingly helpful. We are much clearer on results from our grants. “     ~ M.K. Larson, President and CEO, The M.R. & Evelyn Hudson Foundation, Southlake, TX
