The Institute works with foundations to help them clarify what they are seeking to achieve and communicate effectively to grantees and potential grantees.  The benefits accrue to both parties in the partnership.  These words come from a grantee of a large foundation with which The Institute is currently working:

"Finally, as I mentioned earlier, your newly revised grant was outstanding. Often, grants require lengthy descriptions that promote cutting and pasting rather than generating new thingking. Your grant pushed us to articulate thoughts and ideas we have been working on throughout the year. It required a metacognitive process that I am confident can be applied to other areas to inform the organization, staff and stakeholders about our futuer goals. I am happy to be more specific about which questions were most useful if it would be of service to you."

An e-mail message from the President of the Altman Foundation, our client:

Dear Hal:  I think it was a very good session; Chuck is just so thoughtful about the way he organizes and orchestrates things.  And, as always, it was a pleasure to team up with you.  Attached is a copy of my remarks—you will see that I plagiarized myself, taking bits from my WID speech, but I think that is probably acceptable.  I will look forward to seeing you again soon, and again, many thanks for the tremendous work you, Wendy, and John did in leading us through this process.

With all best wishes,  Karen
