When Hal Williams became president of TRI in 1972, he boldly stated that he “wanted to tackle problems, not just talk about them”. Since then, The Rensselaerville Institute has continued to help people improve their lives by focusing relentlessly on the results that matter to them. From assisting the Cherokee Nation to install 100 miles of waterline in an otherwise dry community to raising the reading achievement of the worst high school in Ohio by 17 percent in one year—these are the results that led the Wall Street Journal to dub us “The Think Tank With Muddy Boots”.
